Cross-Docking Cells
Axiom GB provides bespoke cross-docking cells depending on the industry and type of goods to be handled. A typical a cell will consist of:
- Inducts: Easy access conveyor sections where the product is decanted from the incoming load (pallet or bag) and loaded onto the infeed conveyor.
- Scanning: Often automated with the scanning heads mounted above the induct conveyor to read a QR or barcode on the package and record into the control system. May also include weight and volumetric measuring (DWS systems).
- Conveyors: Used to transport the products from the induct direct trailer or outbound pallet. Can be belt, roller or ZLP types as required.
- Sortation from a single stream to multiple outlets will require a method of diversion. Depending on the product, volumes and layout the most common are Swivel Wheel Sorters (SWS) or Sliding Shoe Sorters.
