The cell is designed to handle and classify 6000 packages per hour. The SICK DWS reads the barcodes, calculates the dimensions of the package through volumetric scanning and weighs each package. The control compares this actual data against that supplied by the customer. The majority of the conveyors are belt type with central tension adjustment; all AC motors have Siemens inverters equipped with remote access. The roller conveyors are zero-line pressure (ZLP) driven by 24VDC roller drives. This allows high density buffering of the packages without back-pressure at the labelling area. This is phase 1 of the cell, sliding shoe sorters are being added later in 2023. The cross-docking cell is installed for Easyship in Chicago, USA.
